CAPO meeting 11/19/07

Next meeting: Jan 25, 2008, the annual meeting at A Mountain Retreat in Pine.

Present: Natasha Kiline-9th, Jennifer Core-2nd, Jennifer Howard-17th, Lara Carriker-18th, Kurt Runge-4th, Deedee Kagel-9th, Sara Sargent-7th, Brea Coronado-17th.

Elections: Jay Cassarino elected as Treasurer. Brea Coronado elected as Secretary. These positions will go into effect 1/25/08, and will be for a two year term.

Bi-law Changes: Lara read all proposed changes. No changes can go into effect until the annual meeting 1/25/08. Motion was made to pass all proposed changes to membership; motion passed. Jennifer Core is still looking for the original format for the bi-laws; if you have please contact her.

Annual Retreat: January 25, 2008, in Pine. It is not in the CAPO budget to pay for anyone to stay overnight. The stay at the retreat is $40. If you are planning to stay at the retreat please let Lara know at least one week prior so arrangements can be made. Lara to double check how many people the retreat will sleep, but it is thought that it will sleep 20-22 people. Lunch will be potluck; there is a very large kitchen with all necessary appliances available to use at the retreat. Motion made to pay $150 deposit for retreat; motion passed. Address and directions for retreat to follow-will also be posted on website. Suggestion was made to also post pictures of previous retreat online; Jennifer Howard will look to see what pictures she has, anyone else who has pictures, please pass them on to Jennifer Howard or Kevin Klinkerfues. Guest speaker ideas: COVA had a marketing company that spoke on “branding”, direction of organization and mission statement. Lara will also talk to improv group to see if they are interested in doing a ½ day performance.

Upcoming Conferences: Michael Clark is doing a presentation on Strength Based MI approaches 4/9-4/10/08 in Grand Junction; it is open for all staff on judicialnet. It has not been decided if CAPO will act as co-sponsor, although we have been approached. It was suggested CAPO should take that opportunity and consider having a hospitality suite the evening of 4/9/08. More discussion will take place on this and be finalized by the annual retreat. The South Central conference is in March and they do not want vendors, but Lara is working with Susan Jones on Vendor packets instead. The South East conference is in May. It is felt a CAPO representative should be at each regional conference.

Awards: There is discussion about doing awards on a regional basis at the conferences. Decided to table this for discussion at the retreat.
