CAPO Executive Officers:


President - Kurt Runge

Kurt Runge is originally from Joliet, Illinois. He received a BA in Political Science from Colorado College and an MA in Public Administration from the University of Colorado. Kurt began working for the Colorado State Judicial Branch in 1998 as the Domestic Violence Site Coordinator. From 1998 until 2001, he supervised a specialized domestic violence offender caseload. During this period, he served as a member of DVERT, a local domestic violence community task force. In addition, he was involved in the planning and creation of the first Domestic Violence Summit Conference. In 2001, Kurt assumed a probation officer position with the Sex Offender Intensive Supervision Probation (SOISP) caseload in the 4th Judicial District. He is a member of SOSA and participates in the Pikes Peak area Metro Sex Crimes meetings. Kurt has been an active leader in probation and an advocate of officer development from the start of his career. He has been a member of CAPO since April 2003. Kurt served as Chairperson of the local Customer Service Committee from 1999 to 2001. He is currently Chairperson of the local Training Committee and a member of the PAC Training Sub-committee. e-mail Kurt Runge

 

Kyle Miller


Kyle Miller started working in probation as a volunteer probation officer in 1991 in the First Judicial District/Probation Department. After completing an internship through the Jefferson County Alcohol Unit, he was hired in 1995 as an alcohol evaluator. In 1997, Kyle relocated to the Western slope where he worked as a probation officer in Pitkin County, located in the Ninth Judicial District. He was responsible for the daily operations of a satellite office in Aspen, including writing presentence investigation reports and providing supervision for both adult and juvenile offenders. After working 4 years as a “generalist," Kyle transferred to Garfield County in 2001 to implement an adult drug court program. Beginning March 1, 2005, Kyle will be working in the 5th Judicial District as a probation supervisor where he will oversee the daily operations of the probation offices located in Breckenridge and Georgetown. Kyle has been involved in CAPO for several years and considesrs it an honor to serve as President. The organization is embarking on new leadership that promotes solutions. Secretary - Lara Carriker


Lara Carriker is a Probation Officer III and the Community Corrections Liaison for 18th Judicial District Probation Department. She has worked for the State of Colorado for almost 9 years. Prior to working in the 18th, she managed a general adult case load in the 4th Judicial District, and prior to that Lara was a probation officer assistant for the United States Probation Department in the state of Colorado. Lara graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1993 with a BS in Criminal Justice, and has been an active member of CAPO since 1996. Lara was appointed CAPO secretary in 2003, filling a vacancy, and was elected to this position in 2004.
